We have an established client base across the South Island with dedicated offices in Dunedin & Central Otago. Southern District Health Board (SDHB) – Passive compliance and inspection systems contract

Contego has recently been award a 3 year contract with South District Health Board (SDHB) to provide Passive Fire Protection inspection and IQP services for 46 building assets across Otago and Southland.

This contract was awarded after a weighted attribute publicly advertised tender and Contego shone through as the preferred provider. This involves Contego overseeing the IQP inspection for systems SS15.2,SS15.3, SS15.4 and SS15.5 for all SDHB Buildings including Southland Public Hospital, Dunedin Public Hospital, Wakari Hospital, Dunstan Hospital and Queenstown Lakes District Hospital.

Contego are proud to be the preferred provider of all Passive Fire Protection to the SD

St John Cromwell

Contego has been involved with St John on several of their buildings provide pro bono work for their remedial works and design.

St John Cromwell is a complete new build whereby Contego has worked with the client and design team to cover all elements of Passive Fire protection and had an active role in ensuring Passive Fire Protection is considered at every step of the design.

Hayward College

Our core role involved treating existing & new services penetrations throughout the building which had previously been a maternity hospital & more recently a Student Hostel.

However, our role was far more involved than simply penetration treatment. Due to the tight nature of this project Logic & their consultant design team relied heavily on Contego for compliant Design solutions on the fly – there was simply no time for stopping the bus for design solutions. Contego were able to identify issues, scope out & have a compliant solution available for the project team immediately.

Dunedin International Airport Extension

The extension & upgrade caters for increased passenger numbers & increased security systems through screening areas.

Contego have been engaged since December 2018 & will be working with Signal through to its handover in January 2020 after completing the upgrade in a staged environment to avoid disruptions to airport operations. Contego have ensured we are always ready to work on an area when an opening is made & provided out of hours work to get the job done.

John Wickliffe House

Contego have been involved with John Wickliffe House & Plaza since 2016 as the preferred provider for Passive Fire Protection.

This 11 storey office building regularly has office fitouts & alterations including multiple government departments including DOC, Ministry of Social Development.

Contego have put in place a proactive managed upgrade of historical passive fire protection defects that can be completed with minimal disruption to tenants throughout this large office building.

DCC Preferred provider

Working for the DCC involves a high level of scrutiny, transparency, competitiveness & high level of service. Contego have continued to impress DCC with services.

ACC Preferred provider

Contego were approached by Project Managers Feldspar in mid-2019 to assist with this rapidly developing fitout & upgrade project. Due to tenant occupancy date there was not sufficient time for full design & the project was literally commencing as the design was commencing. Contego were engaged due to our ability to assist with the design of Passive Fire Protection in a fast pace environment as well as our ability to execute the work on the ground.

Contego worked alongside Feldspar & other trades to ensure this complex fitout & upgrade was completed in time for the >100 staff arriving for work.

Services Contractors - Daily Support

Contego provides daily support to a number of Services Sub Contractors with Passive Fire Protection requirements. These services include finding a compliant solution for their scenario, providing compliance documentation, product supply, QA and training where necessary. Contego has a loyal base of Services clients that we are able to support at short notice to ensure they maintain progress on site and don’t get caught up with compliance issues at completion.

Mercy Hospital

Mercy Hospital were looking to proactively inspect, maintain and upgrade their building in terms of Passive Fire Protection. We completed an initial scope of work and developed a priority programme that allowed for the most critical areas of the Hospital to be upgraded during the available shutdown period. Contego were able to provide compliant systems for a Hospital building that had been adapted through upgrades of many decades.

Oamaru Opera House

The Oamaru Opera House is a unique Heritage venue. Contego systems were pleased to be able to complete the compliance of fire rating penetrations in this Heritage building for the Waitaki District Council.
